The hotel was comfortable, clean and quiet, especially given its excellent central location. However, the staff were extremely confused, and although they tried to be helpful, they caused quite a few problems. We had two room bookings for two different parties in the same family, and the staff were continuously confused about this. On arrival of the second party, we were firstly told we had no booking then given the wrong kind of room. The other party later had their room key cancelled as the reception staff thought they'd moved into our room. Chaos ruled. We also got charged random amounts for the same drinks in the bar, and although we corrected that, the wrong amount was also charged on the final bill. The restaurant was okay, but not as good as the web-description implied, and the menu was far more restricted than we expected, so it's worth checking the menu in advance.

certainly not a 4* hotel as advertised. Rooms were very small, dirty & smelly. Wall paper was coming off and duck tape was used to repair carpet. Complained and moved to various rooms but little improvement each time . We weren't the only ones to complain as every time we went through reception someone else was complaining. Their bar was 5* prices: £11 for a whiskey and £3.50 for a dispensed coke.

Bed only made up for one person and bathroom only one set of towels, turns out that the second person's pillow and towels are in the cupboard! Room was very small but was okay. There's pay per view channels and playstation games as well as wi-go but you need to pay for it. Breakfast is large buffet but quality is not great, we were fairly late down and all the cooked stuff was cold. Location is good though, just opposite New Scotland Yard and round the corner from St James Park tube station which is on district line. Supermarket within 5 mins walk.

There's loads to do and see in London, we went to a comedy club in Covent Garden, "The Funny Side" and generally enjoyed the street performers. Avoid overpriced Albannach bar on Trafalgar Square!
